Not really advice or anything, but I found a really good website for getting random names. So if you're having a hard time naming someone, just browse this generator. Maybe it would be helpful.

And you can get a fake address to where they live. (I really think this site is for fake IDs, but whatever.)

More story-like, although there are a few things to be desired still, it's pretty cool. The vampire name generator and the Angel/demon name generator are the ones I use for my characters/nicknames most often, I then add or remove assorted stuff.

Even if a name/object/etc doesn't catch your fancy on the first try, the variety of words may inspire you to make one out of two or three names with pieces you'd like to use. It's what I do.

I remember finding this site a long time ago and never finding it again. Thanks for posting it!

Oh, and if anyone has other good site, put 'em up. Finding a name is the hardest thing for me to do when making characters. I imagine that's similar for other people as well.

Well, for me it is.

Once that is out of the way, it's golden. I'm somewhat good at developing the personality once I get some basic building blocks to use as foundation. :D

I use http://www.thinkbabynames.com/ quite a bit, but it's more of a list of names than a generator.  However it's useful if you want to look up popular names of a certain time period - 1950 to 1959 for example.

Of course that's only useful if you're good at it and you want something for fantasy. =3=
